Athena was rescued from a hoarder’s house where she was kenneled and isolated for the first few years of her life. After just a month in her new home she is spunky and well-adjusted. Her favorite snack is carrots and her best friend is Poppy, an 8 month old cattle dog mix. There’s also a cat named Spencer in the house who will roll over and paw at Athena to get her to play and she eagerly obliges. We are so happy that Jessica has given Athena a forever home and welcomed her into a family full of furry siblings.
When we found Jack he was one of the most emotionally shut down dogs we have encountered to date, always keeping his head down and afraid to make eye contact. He had been living in a hoarder’s house along with tons of other animals. We were able to find a foster parent for him who recently lost a dog himself and was in need of another companion. It didn’t take long for Jack to make himself at home in Myron’s house, basking in the sun and curling up on his dog beds. We’re excited to be able to say that Myron has officially adopted Jack so he now has a forever home.
Maverick was paralyzed in all four legs when he came to us as an owner-surrender. He was 17 weeks old. A negative reaction to a vaccination had left him unable to use anything but his neck and tail. Everyone said he would never walk again. However, combining his great attitude with the skill of the veterinarians and therapists at Two Hands Four Paws he made rapid progress. Within a few months he was walking, then running, then dancing with joy! Click here for more details on his story.
Ava was abandoned in her backyard with no food or water when she was only 4 weeks old. To make her situation even more dire her back was broken in two places and her spinal cord was severed. She could not move or escape. Her cries alerted neighbors who called their local animal control. She is now gaining strength with daily physical therapy. With the help of a custom canine wheelchair she is mobile and zips around happily. To learn more about Ava click here.
Bailey, the kind-hearted Goldendoodle, is too, is an owner-surrender. A serious fall left her incontinent and unable to use her hind limbs. She does have feeling in her back legs so we have hope that she will regain the ability to walk and run. She is very sweet and crazy for tennis balls. We look forward to seeing her progress as she spends time with the technicians and hydrotherapy equipment at Two Hands Four Paws. More information on her progress to come!
Lady Larry joined our group of ever-growing Two Hands Four Paws Foundation beneficiaries in early November 2016. She was surrendered by her owner to a local shelter because they could no longer take care of her. She had a beautiful face, a tail that never stops wagging annnd about 20 extra pounds to love! Our goal is to find her forever home and work some of that weight off while we’re at it. After a short time in our care her face is still beautiful and her tail has yet to take a break but as she loses weight she is starting to look less like a walking coffee table! We’ve got high hopes for Lady Larry stay tuned to watch her progress.
